Curious George joined local library tours

WATERTOWN — WPBS-DT, Watertown’s PBS station, partnered with libraries within the broadcast community and hosted a number of story time visits with “PBS Kids” character Curious George.

Some libraries reported more than 100 children and adults in attendance. Each visit included a story and a goody bag with a free book per child, along with suggested activities to keep young readers busy throughout the summer.

The tour included nine libraries throughout Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties: the Canton Free Library; Ogdensburg Public Library; Robert C. McEwen Library, Fort Drum; Croghan Free Library; Summer Kids Klub at the Salmon Run Mall; Carthage Free Library; Lowville Free Library; Depauville Free Library and the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library, Watertown.

The Raising Readers Summer Library Tour was sponsored by the Watertown Education Association, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union and Walmart (which has stores in Potsdam, Evans Mills, Lowville and Watertown.)

Funding for books was provided in part by the Watertown Noon Rotary Club.
