Golf tourney raises $1,150 for Martinsburg Historical Society

LOWVILLE — The Twins Wide Open Golf Tournament was held Aug. 2 at Cedars Golf Course, and ended early due to a violent thunder and lightning storm. Sponsored by twins Marcia Kenealy and Marilyn VanZandt, the tournament raised $1,150 for the Martinsburg Historical Society.

Dawn Manzer, the twin’s mother, is a charter member of the society which was started in 1976 in response to President Gerald Ford’s request that communities across the nation do something special to commemorate the 200th birthday of the United States. Mrs. Manzer has been a life-long promoter of the town of Martinsburg.

The following businesses and individuals contributed to the success of this event: J.R., Cathy and the rest of the staff at Cedar’s Golf Course, Lowville Sport and Farm, Lowville Dairy Producers, Wendy’s Shear Magic, Guignard’s Flowers, Miller’s Meat Market, Sunnycrest Flowers, Mane Attractions, Ridgeview Motor Lodge, Adirondack Steel Works, All Seasons Landscaping, Mike’s Appliances, Tug Hill Vineyard, Gary’s Restaurant, Hair Designs, Mullin’s Service Station, Hair Vogue, Brantingham Golf Course, Jeb’s Restaurant, Doyle’s Pub and Entwined Treasures. Also, T’s Embroidery, Bea Kenealy, Beth Hopkins, Deanna Burns, Colwell’s Farm Market, Hanno’s Home Town Carwash, Marguerite’s Cranberry Emporium, Lowville Farmers’ Co-op., Mike’s Appliances, Raechel Kenealy, Steak ‘n Brew, Sheri, Martinsburg Historical Society, Wicked Whiskey and ZAP Power Sports.
