Remington II Canoe Race Set Aug. 30

RENSSELAER FALLS - Saturday August 30th is the date for the Remington II Canoe/Kayak Race from Rensselaer Falls to Heuvelton.

This fun event will begin with registration at 9am. The race begins with recreation boats competing against each other starting at 10 a.m. with a second start line for the racing boats starting at 10:10 a.m.

The course ends six miles downstream in Heuvelton where the Labor Day Festivities are happening.

The awards ceremony will be hel at 11:45 a.m. with medals to the first three in each category.

There is a short carry around the Remington Rapids, or competitors may choose to paddle through them. Excellent spectator viewing from the River Road with boats likely to be there starting at 10:40 am.

Anyone interested is invited to enjoy the Oswegatchie River with St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers.

LAST DUATHLON WEDNESDAY

St. Lawrence Valley Paddlers will host the final run/paddle/run duathalon of the 2014 season at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 20th.

This family friendly event is held at the Park Street boat launch in Canton, on the Little River. All kayaks and canoes are welcome, solo or team. The run is 1.25 miles and the paddle is about 2 miles.
