Sally M. Jesmer


Sally M. Jesmer -age 78, of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born May 21, 1936 to Ernest Weston and Viola N (Woodard) Thompson in Sackets Harbor, New York and attended Sackets Harbor School. Sally married Joe F Jesmer, the love of her life, on April 5, 1956 in Sulphur Springs, New York. They were married 48 years, until his death in 2004.

She spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. When she wasn’t being a caregiver to her family, she enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds in her yard, cooking, and reading her Bible.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; daughter, Sue Pierce; parents, Ernest and Viola Thompson; sisters, Shirley, Veronica, Nina, and brothers, Jack and Thomas.

Sally is survived by youngest daughter, Karen(John Marnell), of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; granddaughter, Kerry Hyde(Kasimu Henry), of Tallahassee, Florida; grandsons, Technical Sergeant(USAF) Cory Pierce(Shanna), of Suffolk, England and Senior Airman Jay Pierce(Tiffany), of Liverpool, New York; great grandchildren, MaKayla and Calista Pierce, of Suffolk, England and Kaiden Henry of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Marlene Elmer, of Sackets Harbor, New York; brothers, Arnold(Sue) Thompson, of Adams, New York, Gary(Esther) Thompson, of Belton, South Carolina, Kenneth(Linda) Thompson, of Watertown, New York, Michael(Rene) Thompson, of Watertown, New York and Ernest(Bonnie) Thompson II, of Phoenix, Arizona and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank all who have called, prayed, and offered support, and a special thanks to the Sevier County community for their prayers, food, and gifts of support. Also, a special thanks to everyone at Ridge Valley Heating and Air for their support, understanding, and prayers.

To honor Sally’s wishes there will be no visitation services. A private ceremony will be held by the immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Jesmer to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, 3615 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37914.
