A dynasty.

Back to back championships can be a fluke.

Backto Back To Back Championships usually is unheard of but Hosmer’s Marina can be linked to that term and now can be called a dynasty in Ogdensburg Women’s Softball after a 5-4 win on Wednesday in the finals over Howie’s.

Stacey Barr lined a single to lead off the first inning for Howie’s and later scored on a fielders choice by Sky Sharp.

Eliza Pierce and Andrea Duvall poled back to back two out doubles in the bottom of the first and scored on single from Jackie Gascon for a 2-1 Hosmer’s lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, Chelsea Bice lined a single and later scored on a Megan Law hit for a 3-1 lead.

Chelsea Martin ripped a single and later scored in the third inning to cut the deficit to 3-2 on a sacrifice fly.

Looking for insurance, Duvall smacked a two-run homerun to rightfield scoring Pierce who singled in the sixth inning with one out for a 5-2 lead.

Carrying their cause to the game’s climax, Howie’s scored twice in the seventh and left the tying run at third after Martin singled with one out, Jade Vernsey walked and Skye Sharp lined an RBI single.

Winning pitcher Jackie Gascon enticed a flyout and groundouts to thirdbase where Pierce and Taylor Jordan both recorded outs to end the game.

Jen Dashnaw and Duvall each singled in the third inning for Hosmer’s. Jackie Gascon and Katie O’Connor each singled in the sixth.

For Howie’s, Makenzi Stevenson and Katie Terwilliger each singled in the second, Stevenson lined a single in the fourth, and Shannon LaFave had a hit in the sixth.

The Ogdensburg Elks Club will host the league’s banquet on Friday evening at 6 p.m.

On Monday, Howie’s scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning for a 11-3 advantage before The Place cashed for three in the bottom.

Jade Vernsey supplied two doubles and a single and Heather Small and Chelsea Martin each connected for three singles leading Howie’s.

Shannon LaFave, Skye Sharp and Mackenzi Stevenson each singled twice with Stacey Barr adding a hit.

Dawn Merz and Amy Richardson each connected for two singles for The Place which won the regular season championship. Holli Jo Cota delivered a double and Jocelyn Fifield and Sierra Dobbs each singled.

Merz was honored with the 2014 Bobby Klein Memorial Award. The award is given to the top player of the Ogdensburg Women’s Softball League.

“Dawn plays the game of softball with passion. She plays with a lot of heart. That’s why she is the winner of this award,” said Sherry Deloney.”
