FELONY AGGRAVATED DWI - OSWEGATCHIE - Ogdensburg-based state police charged Jarred A. Wells, 33, of Ogdensburg with a felony count of aggravated driving while intoxiated following a traffic stop at 12:13 a.m. Sunday on County Route 6 in the town of Oswegatchie. A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher is considered proof of intoxication in the state. The charge is elevated to an aggravated DWI count when the blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or higher. The felony count was lodged due to Wells having a prior misdemeanor DWI conviction within the prior 10 years.
DWI - GOUVERNEUR - Gouverneur-based state police charged Ray L. Roberts, 30, of Antwerp with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 11:45 p.m. Saturday on County Route 12 in the town of Gouverneur.
DWI - GOUVERNEUR - Gouverneur-based state police charged Scott A. Chase, 24, of Gouverneur with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 2:45 p.m. Sunday on East Main Street in the town of Gouverneur.
DWI - FORT COVINGTON - Malone-based state police charged Neil M. Winters, 33, of Brushton with driving while intoxicated and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle on a public highway at 1:50 a.m. Sunday following a traffic stop on Route 37 in the town of Fort Covington.
PETIT LARCENY - NORFOLK - Massena-based state police charged Erin M. Abelard, 32, of Winthrop with petit larceny Saturday stemming from an investigation into a larceny reported to police June 27 from the town of Norfolk. Massena-based state police had charged Abelard with theft of services Friday stemming from an investigation into a complaint filed with troopers that she had failed to pay a $24 taxi fare to Massena Transport for a ride on July 14 from the town of Stockholm to the village of Massena. Troopers said the arrest was made Friday evening at 63 Pickle St. in the town of Stockholm. She was turned over to Potsdam Village Police. They picked up Abelard up on an arrest warrant charging her with second-degree criminal impersonation Friday. Police allege Abelard provided officers with a false name during an Aug. 11 traffic stop in the village of Potsdam. She was picked up on the warrant by Massena-based state police in Massena and turned over to the Potsdam Police Department. She was arraigned by Potsdam Town Justice James Mason and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set at $250 cash or $500 bond. Troopers charged Abelard with the petit larceny count Saturday at the jail.
CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - BOMBAY - Malone-based state police charged Ronald A. Woods, 23, of Bombay with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt and Sarah V. Avery, 28, of Bombay with a misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal contempt and obstruction of governmental administration after responding to a report of an order of protection violation at 8:10 a.m. Saturday at 165 County Route 1 in the town of Bombay. Woods was additionally charged with third-degree criminal trespass and petit larceny stemming from an Aug. 6 shoplifting complaint from the town of Malone.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - WESTVILLE - Malone-based state police charged Randy L. Parker, 20, of St. Regis Falls with second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree criminal mischief after responding to a trespassing complaint at 11:01 p.m. Saturday after responding to a trespass complaint from the town of Westville. The arrest was made approximately 15 minutes later at 308 Fay Road.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - BOMBAY - State police investigated a number of property damage accidents around the region on Saturday. Among those:
• Karakwineh Lazore, 26, of Akwesasne and Antoine Newberry, 72, of Casselman, Ont., were involved in a two-vehicle collision at 11:58 a.m. in the Speedway Convenience Store parking lot off state Route 37 in the town of Bombay.
