WATERTOWN — Jonathan P. Simpson, 23, of 1217 Faichney Drive, Apt. 6, was charged by city police with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment at 10:59 a.m. Tuesday at 1200 Coffeen St.

Police said at 10:27 a.m. he subjected his wife, Marie D. Simpson, to physical contact by striking her with his fists, causing a bloody nose and abrasions to her neck and face. He violated a court order in which Mrs. Simpson was the protected party, police said.

He was remanded to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and is to appear in City Court.
