Heuvelton – Marion L. Young, 78, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Edwardsville Cemetery.
Marion was born Feb. 23, 1936 in the town of Macomb, N.Y., the daughter of Franklin and Nina (Brown) Lawyer. She graduated from Morristown High School on June 2, 1954. Marion united into marriage with Charles Young on Nov. 1, 1958 at the First Congregational Church of Canton, with the Rev. A. Leslie Potter officiating. At one time she worked for Weldon’s Meat Packing in Gouverneur, and later retired after 27 years at the Edwardsville Grocery Store in Edwardsville, N.Y.
Being quick witted, and feisty she was always the spark to the family gatherings. Marion enjoyed Black Lake fishing, sitting around a table playing poker or venturing off to play bingo.
Special memories will be forever in the hearts of her husband of 55 years, Charles; her son Terry of Heuvelton; daughter and daughter-in-law Lisa and Michelle Young of Morristown; and daughter-in-law Mechele (Brian) Young of Lakeland, Fla. She is also survived by a sister Lorna Sloan of Heuvelton, and several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by two sons, Franklin who passed away at infancy, and Brian who passed away in 2009; and two sisters Augusta Lawyer, and Eileen Youngs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marion’s honor may be made to the Morristown Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co 1, P.O Box 4, Morristown, NY 13664.
