DWAI DRUGS - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Victoria L. Middlemiss, 27, of Potsdam with driving while ability impaired by drugs and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and ticketed for failure to keep right and failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change following a one-vehicle roll-over accident at approximately 7:25 a.m. Thursday on state Route 345, Potsdam.
Troopers said Middlemiss was northbound when she fell asleep, and her vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and exited the west shoulder of the road. The vehicle became airborne for a short distance before striking a National Grid utility pole, and then rolled on its passenger side in a swampy area, where it came to rest. National Grid workers responded and shut down power in the area temporarily.
Middlemiss complained of lower back pain and was taken by Potsdam Rescue to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, where she consented to a blood test to determine her blood and/or alcohol content. She was charged following her release from the hospital. Troopers said they also discovered her driving privileges were suspended due to a previous DWAI conviction.
She was arraigned in Potsdam Town Court and released under the supervision of probation, to reappear at 1 p.m. Sept. 18.
Troopers said further charges are pending the results of the blood test.
MARIJUANA POSSESSION - DEKALB - New York State Police reported Friday that they had charged two Utica men with possessing approximately 5 pounds of marijuana during a DWI check at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on state Highway 11 in the town of DeKalb.
Troopers charged Elisantiago R. Rivero-Goitia, 25, and Miguelangel R. Gonzalez, 26, with a felony count of criminal possession of marijuana.
Police said they were conducting a DWI road check when the two men pulled up. The marijuana was found in a cooler inside the vehicle, they said.
They were arraigned in Fowler Town Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $2,000 cash bail for Rivero-Goitia and $5,000 cash bail for Gonzalez. Both men will reappear Monday.
DWI - PARISHVILLE - New York State Police reported Friday that they had charged Logan R. DeCarr, 20, of Parishville with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle accident at around midnight Tuesday on White Hill Road in the town of Parishville.
DeCarr was also ticketed for consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, no seatbelt, moving from lane unsafely and operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device. Further charges are pending the results of a blood test.
Troopers said they DeCarr was eastbound when he exited the south shoulder of the roadway, striking a Verizon utility pole. The vehicle then struck a boulder and flipped, coming to rest on its roof.
He was taken by Parishville Rescue to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment of arm injuries. He also consented to a blood test at the hospital to determine his blood alcohol content.
He will appear Oct. 21 in Parishville Town Court to answer the charges.
FELONY DWI - BANGOR - Malone-based state police reported Friday that they had charged Kevin S. Webb, 32, of Fort Covington with felony driving while intoxicated and ticketed him for no seatbelt and moving from lane unsafely following a one-vehicle accident at approximately 5 a.m. Sunday on County Route 53 in the town of Bangor.
They said Webb was northbound on County Route 53 when his vehicle exited the east shoulder of the road and struck an earth embankment before overturning and coming to rest on its roof in a ditch.
They said Webb was located curled up and sleeping inside the vehicle. Bangor EMS responded and used extracting tools to remove Webb from the vehicle. He was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center for evaluation and, while at the hospital, consented to a blood test to determine his drug and/or alcohol content. He was treated and released from the hospital.
Webb, who police said had a previous conviction within 10 years, will answer the charges Sept. 15 in Bangor Town Court.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS - WESTVILLE - Malone-based state police reported Friday that they had charged Randy L. Parker, 20, of St. Regis Falls with one count of second-degree criminal trespass and one count of third-degree criminal trespass at 11:15 p.m. Saturday stemming from an incident reported to troopers at 11:01 p.m. Sunday from the town of Westville. He was arraigned and ordered held on $500 bail.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - BOMBAY - Malone-based state police charged Timothy J. Mackiewicz, 65, of Hermon with criminal mischief: intent to damage property at 4:15 p.m. Thursday stemming from a complaint filed with troopers at 3 p.m. Thursday from the town of Bombay. He was released on an appearance ticket.
PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENTS - MALONE - State police investigated a number of property damage accidents around the area on Thursday and early Friday morning. Among them:
• Dylan R. Holmes, 22, of North Bangor and Tyler M. Rule, 19, of Constable were involved in a two-vehicle accident at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on state Route 11 in the town of Malone.
• Morris Herne, 55, of St. Regis, Que., at 5:25 p.m. Thursday on state Route 122 in the town of Westville.
• Todd R. Ramsdell, 19, of Winthrop at 1:34 a.m. Friday on U.S. Route 11 in the town of Bangor.
