BOONVILLE — The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department is looking for witnesses to a head-on collision of a motorcycle and a car that killed two people Tuesday evening.
The fatal accident occurred around 4 p.m. when a motorcycle traveling north collided with a car at the intersection of Route 12 and Kerwin Road in Boonville. Both vehicles caught fire and their drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Associated Press, 20-year-old Mitchell Mashaw, of Port Leyden, crashed the motorcycle he was operating into a car driven by 78-year-old Thomas Grower, of Forestport. Prior to the crash, Mr. Mashaw allegedly sped off when a sheriff’s deputy saw him and tried to pull him over.
