CANTON — The Classy Collectibles flea market will be returning this fall to the University Plaza, Route 11, with 58 spaces for vendors.

Dennis W. Kelly, market operator, said he has signed a five-year lease agreement with the plaza’s owner, David C. Muraco, president of Empire Property Management, Dewitt.

The market is expected to reopen Oct. 1 and will occupy 12,000 square feet of space between the Save-A-Lot grocery store, set to open Sept. 18, and the Dollar Tree store. A separate outside door will be installed and a large sign will be affixed.

“We are glad to be going back there,” Mr. Kelly said. “The majority of vendors are ready to return.”

He said about 45 of the 58 spaces already have been reserved. The flea market will be charged $5,000 a month to lease the space, which is more than it was previously charged. As a result, the price for vendors has increased to $1.25 per square foot. Three different booth sizes are available. Vendors offer an assortment of items, including clothing, jewelry, books, household goods and other items.

Before closing in December, the flea market occupied about 20,000 square feet of space and prior to that 40,000 square feet with more than 100 vendor spaces.

The flea market closed after the holiday season because Mr. Muraco was renovating the building and seeking tenants. At that time, he wasn’t certain if any space would be left for the flea market to occupy, but Mr. Kelly said a portion of space was available.

Mr. Kelly and his wife, Susette M., operate Grandma’s Kids, a used children’s clothing business that will be housed in the flea market.
