ADAMS — The village has secured a $50,000 grant to improve its sidewalks, state Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, announced Monday.
The grant will help increase the accessibility of sidewalks across the village for residents, Mrs. Ritchie said in a statement.
“One of the keys to any successful community is a transportation network that’s both safe and extensive; providing pedestrians with an easy way to get to their destination, while also increasing foot traffic to local businesses,” she said.
“Whether it’s traveling to school or getting to a local business, it’s crucial to have sidewalks that are both safe and accessible for the people of our community,” village Mayor Philip F. Chatterton said in a statement. “We’ve made a number of improvements in the village recently, and thank Senator Ritchie for helping us to continue our efforts to better the quality of life for local residents.”
