AKWESASNE — Watertown’s Billy Dunn won the 50-lap 358-modified event Friday night at Mohawk International Raceway to clinch his third straight track championship in the final points races of the season.
It was the fourth win of the season for Dunn, who joins Mike Perrotte and Ovide Doiron as the only drivers to win the 358-modified division three straight years.
Randy Whiting earned the bandit championship with a win, while Corey Wheeler (sportsman) and Mathieu Robinson (mod lite) each used fifth place finishes to win their division titles.
Dylan Evoy (sportsman) and Jacob Bova (mod lite) rounded out the season with wins.
KIRBY WINS PRO STREET TITLE
Shawn Kirby battled past Mike White to win the 20-lap pro street feature to highlight Friday night’s action at Chapman’s Can-Am Motorsports Park in LaFargeville, which decided championships in each division.
Charlie Sandercock (late model), Phil Desormeau (thunder stock), and Riley Gill (novice sportsman) also clinched track championships with wins. Brandon Sweet won the 25-lap sportsman race, while Josh Van Brocklin earned the season title.
Friday’s racing card was dedicated to Port Leyden’s Kevin Ward, Jr., who died Aug. 9 after being struck by driver Tony Stewart.
FULLER THIRD AT PA. RACE
Watertown’s Tim Fuller took third in the Working Man 50 World of Outlaws late model series race Friday night at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa.
Series points-leader Darrell Lanigan earned his 14th win of the season.
Tim McCreadie of Watertown finished in fourth.
