Mr. Ronald J. Richardson, age 73 of Dexter, NY and formerly of Potsdam, NY passed away on August 29th at his residence. Ron Richardson was born on October 7, 1940 in Potsdam, NY to the late Jerald and Helen Chapman Richardson. Upon graduating from Norwood-Norfolk High School in 1958, he entered the United States Air Force and served honorably for 5 years. He then served in the Army Reserves until 1981. Ron worked at the Great American Grocery Store in Potsdam and Watertown before working for West Marine in Watertown and Denver, Colorado. He owned the School House Market in West Potsdam and later ran a gun shop in his home until he left the area. He was currently living with his companion of many years, Nancy, on Pillar Point on Lake Ontario. His biggest love was hunting, traveling out west on several occasions on elk hunting trips. He also enjoyed golfing and sailing. He was a Boy Scout Leader, a long time member of the West Potsdam Fire Department, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a lifetime member the NRA.

Ron is survived by Ms Nancy Jones; son Mark (Michelle) Richardson of Boston, MA; daughter Lori Richardson of Charleston, SC; brother Royal Richardson of Syracuse, NY; sisters Patricia (Brad) Ehlert of Syracuse, NY and Jerrine (Steve) Regan of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren Abby and Zach Richardson of Boston, MA and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service. Online condolences can be sent @www.garnerfh.com. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 2 pm at the Garner Funeral Service. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Saturday from 1 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at the Fairview Cemetery in Parishville, NY. Contributions in his memory can be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or the West Potsdam Fire Department.
