WATERTOWN — A city resident was charged Sunday afternoon with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly leaving young girls with a stranger.

City police said Joshua J. Schwartz, 23, of 510 Lansing St., did not know who would watch the girls, 2 years old and 3 months old, when he left them at a residence on the 100 block of Charles Street about 10 a.m. without knowing who would care for them.

Charged at 12:29 p.m. Sunday, Mr. Schwartz was given an appearance ticket for City Court and turned over to Fort Drum military police.

No further information was available.
