WADDINGTON — The Waddington American Legion is planning a September 11th remembrance day, as we here in Waddington “Never Forget”. Ceremonies begin at Island View Park at 5:30 p.m. with a walk to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Route 37 via Maiden Lane and Fenton Street. After the church ceremonies there will be a reception at the American Legion.
As our memories fade and some of the younger generation were too young to even remember, it is important for all of us to remember the lives that were lost when the planes hit the Twin Towers in New York City, when the plane was taken down by brave men and women whose mission it was to thwart the attack on the Nation’s Capital and for those who lost their lives in the attack at the Pentagon. Many civilians, emergency personnel, law enforcement and military were called upon to save the lives of those that they could. We can thank these men and women who fought to keep the freedom we enjoy today.
It was a dreadful day for America and shocked many who thought this could never happen, but it did, and to show our respect and our prayers this special day is observed in their honor. We are also thankful for our local men and women who serve or have server in the Rescue Squads, Fire Departments, Law Enforcement and Military who everyday keep us out of harm’s way. Remember 9/11
