MADRID - This year’s Madrid-Waddington Girls Volleyball displays a very compatible mix in a veteran core group with some fresh new faces.
A trio of senior captains Jennifer King, Dia Richards and Sophia Roome, will lead the team.
“Jennifer and Dia will help control the court in the middle hitter position with Sophia playing as an outside hitter. All three of these players are in their sixth year of competitive volleyball and will be relied upon to play a significant number of minutes.” said Coach Troy Creurer.
M-W went 4-6 in the NAC West last year, 5-11 overall and posted a win in the Section 10 Class D tournament.
The trio of seniors will be supported by a group of four juniors in Abbigail Cope and Alyssa Gagnon who will play in the hitter position, setter Cimone Doelger and Libero Jazmine Trombley.
Ashley Curran is the lone sophomore and will see time in the setters position.
Joining the team this year are two seniors Baylee McMahon and Kaitlyn Scinta, a merger athlete from Lisbon.
“A think we have a nice mix and we have some size,” said Creurer.
“The girls are working hard and looking forward to a good year.”
