WATERTOWN — The United Way of Northern New York’s annual food drive to benefit 18 food pantries in Jefferson County will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in the parking lot of St. Anthony’s Church, Arsenal Street and Bellew Avenue.
The top 10 list of items requested includes tuna fish, spaghetti sauce, pork and beans, peanut butter, jelly, dried pasta, cereal, canned vegetables, canned fruit and boxed sides, such as macaroni and cheese and Hamburger Helper.
Cash donations also will be accepted.
While the focus is nonperishable food, pantries also accept personal hygiene items, laundry detergent and pet food — items that are not covered with use of Electronic Benefit Transfer cards at local stores.
